Henry Schein is one of the largest in medical distributors globally.

I would agree with IR on this - one dedicated major player is better than 50 who are not.

Its obvious that Henry Schein are happy to take on the distribution of this given the continuous expansion of the regions they will sell it in.

As Doug said, the understanding around how the billing in each region occurs and the out of pocket costs up front for use of the test needs to be considered in relation to uptake of the service.

From my understanding, given patients in the US can incur out of pocket costs (lets say in this instance, the febridx test) the GP would be more likely to offer the device for use as they are not immediately out of pocket. In the UK / Europe, there is minimal out of pocket costs to the patient as the cost of the test is reimbursed by the Government healthcare system:

    United Kingdom (NHS):

    • GP Clinic: The clinic provides the service and uses the device.
    • Reimbursement: The NHS reimburses the clinic based on national tariffs.
    • Patient: The patient typically incurs no additional cost for the procedure or device if covered by the NHS.

    Germany (Social Insurance):

    • GP Clinic: The clinic provides the service and bills the statutory health insurance fund.
    • Reimbursement: The health insurance fund reimburses the clinic according to standardized rates.
    • Patient: The patient may pay a small co-pay, but the bulk of the cost is covered by the insurance fund.

    Summary:

    • USA: The GP clinic bills insurance using CPT codes; the insurance company reimburses the clinic, and the patient may pay any remaining balance.
    • Europe: The GP clinic is reimbursed by the national health service or social insurance fund, and the patient usually has minimal out-of-pocket costs.
