Countries typically set aside funds for medication, funds for diagnostics, funds for other health care stuff. It can take a lot of effort for funds to be shifted from an existing diagnostic process, or from another health care area, to something new like PoC testing. And LDX are small fry that do not have the funds or the personnel to lobby governments to change their spending.
The UK is a good exception as their NHS is very committed to reducing the over prescription of antibacterial medication. It is also a slow process getting doctors on board to change their behaviour.
Doug did mention that in the US doctors are screaming out for something like FebriDx as patients, or the parents/guardians of patients, pressure them to provide a prescription for antibiotics, so many would love a visual test where they could show them "see, it's a non-bacterial infection".
