Nothing in that report said the "waste" was rejected because of radioactivity. The Mines Minister stated that the law prohibits the re-importing of waste. Now, radioactivity WAS mentioned but look at the context involved...

    1. In the Headline, but not attributed as such in the body - so invalid - especially as it is from The Australian, a News Corpse paper who hates Labor - with Bill Johnston being a Labor Mines Minister
    2. Quote from "Fuzzy" - do we need that individual back in the news?
    3. Wesfarmers being mentioned, who employed a bit of a "Scorched Earth" methodology in their takeover attempt

As for bringing "waste" back - read this articale from back in 2019 - https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-08-22/malaysians-divided-on-radioactive-waste-from-aussie-miner-lynas/11434122 - Malaysia doesn't take back "sludge and scale" that is "10 times more radioactive than what LYNAS produces - same goes for "waste" from the LAMP. Malaysia are getting plenty of royalties, that's the cost of doing business - and Lynas have even offered them a fertiliser for a pretty decent price as a bonus.

This is just noise from PRC sympathetic supporters in MAL (and Australia)
