    Thanks for the reply -

There are many in the US who would agree with you re., yourperceptions of President Trump’s behavior, the Democratic Party and the Green NewDeal. However, you have on the far left (the vocal, younger elements of theparty led by AOC, her colleagues, Sanders and Warren etc) an influential groupwho are immersed in dogma. They are determined to end all traditional forms ofenergy, which are seen (regardless of science) as destructiveof the environment.

The first (easiest) and most observable act for this group toplay immediately to their base is the denial/suspension of any and all traditional mining permits/requirementsetc (remember e.g., Cruz etc wants all RE feedstock sourced in North America). Unfortunately, I can easily see e.g., AOC using the Lynas (and Japanese) Malaysia pollution issue as one rallying call (again, regardless ofthe science and don’t think that only applies to emerging countries).

Regardless, of one’s view re., former VP Biden, should he win,do we really feel he will be running the administration? He is likely to be ‘fighting’various Republican committee ongoing investigations (IMO, forget the concept of the two parties working together after the last 4 years of investigations) should they hold the Senate. Neither is he likely to be the thorn in the side of China that Trump has been (hence, thenow conspiracy theory re., China and the reason for the spread of COVID 19). The focus on bringing multi manufacturing back to the US, a Republican-backed aim is likely to receive far less focus by the Democrats (pharm may be the exemption and used as a sop to those with strategic views).

While it seems contrarian to think that a US Democratic admin’that wants the Green New Deal would, therefore, put roadblocks in front of RE developmentwithin home borders, again, for the left, it is dogma rather than pragmatism; an easymove to show ‘they mean business’ while still relying on China for the militariesstrategic needs. Again, the US military has not been a focus for the Democratic party and there is no reason to think this would change in a left dominated Democrat admin (As an aside, remember that Mayor DeBlasio and AOC basically took out 25,000Amazon higher-paying jobs from NY because of their social/economic viewpoints).

I am not suggesting that one party or the other is ‘better’for the long-term health of the nation (and globe). That is up to individualsto decide. Rather, that as purely a RE investment thesis the US Nov., electiondecision may be crucial in deciding to what degree the RE sector may diversify beyondChina’s borders. Hence my emphasis that actions in 2020 will IMO be vital to the RE sector.
