The Phelps Dodge copper mine in Arizona is a mile deep. Scary to look into. There should be few problems mining at Mt. Weld for another century+.
I don't believe that MP has done any recent core drilling, but would think that in a very limited Western market, LYC has the edge. Once processing proceeds in Texas, this will become a primary site for global REO production. Sometimes there's more money in processing than there is in the mining/concentration itself.
