Agree, there is a bit to learn here.
I did this partial sell to finance uptake of a different company's offer I did not want to put more cash into and it was a profitable hours work.
But I wanted to put more into LYC, so took the full allocation and pleased to get the extra 50%.
I see Lynas as partly something of a geopolitical hedge, in case of a further severe deterioration of China relationships (which I rate as a 20% chance in a 5 year horizon (ie after the next term of US-presidential politics), so happy to hold on that basis. And support for the Texas project seems to be bi-partisan, but there will be much intrigue as it goes through Pentagon procurment process. A US CO taking a strategic stake would be likely to ease that issue.
Even if my house doesn't burn down I am usually glad to have insurance.
If we eventually make some money from production or get taken over by a Wesfarmers-like entity, the insurance is meanwhile good to have.
