I wonder if the magnetics were out or the drill was because at the depth they drilled, they should have contacted the basal, but did not, the basal down dips to the right of the drill, so I wonder if they were down plunge and maybe should have been 50m or so to the left.

Down plus 500m, if the drill angle is out just 2 degree, you could be 50m or more of your intended spot.
