Also, it is worth noting that the 20%+ short selling is the current state of play based on PAST SALES of borrowed stock. The shorts exposure (for sales already made) could continue for a long period because the the short sell is only up for the borrowing cost at current low rates. At some point they will need to cover, but SYR's share price is unlikely to sky rocket up in a few days to say $10 as an example.
