As usually you need to be careful with those headlines when it says Macquarie Asset Management bought Airtrunk it should say funds managed by MAM bought airtrunk i.e. yes Macquarie chooses the investments and will share in any upside over a huddle rate and will be getting management fees based on AUM of the fund but on sale the majority of any gain goes to the third party investors in the fund who stumped up the capital to allow the fund (not Macquarie) to purchase Airtrunk
