I just noticed this and thought it was a little funny.
Subsequent to the Covid period failures the company made a huge move towards advertising a total returns objective of 9% as opposed to touting outperformance more heavily in more successful periods.
Now taking a look at the total returns objective over virtually every single period they've failed to hit the target. It takes a full 8 years before that number hits 9% (which quite frankly isn't a particularly high target to begin with).
It also makes the claim:
"The Magellan Global Fund has met its 9% p.a performance target over nearly all time periods since inception on 1 July 2007."
Although a basic look at the chart shows this is blatantly false.
Not "pacing ourselves against benchmarks" but also failing to meet their own arbitrary standards of performance.
Truly I don't see value in this company outside of the cash they hold at this point. Its getting sad.
