There's around 30,000 PJ of coal seam gas 2P reserves on the east coast. Then another similar amount of 2C resources on top of this that may or may not ever be converted to reserves and produced (likely that much of it is uneconomic).
And that's only the CSG reserves... not including all the conventional and tight/shale gas projects on top of that.
Mahalo+Mahalo North makes up around 200 PJ of 2P reserves.... so only around 0.7% of the coal seam gas 2P on the east coast.
Significant? Not small? lol.
It is what it is. People clearly need some perspective here. It's a very small - but somewhat tasty fish that will be eaten.
