it's a well known term, i think the post was suggesting the vertical hole was testing the geometry of the mineralisation. A directors special is a hole which is drilled where the likely outcome is a large mineralised intercept. Either by drilling a hole where mineralisation is already understood to exist in preference to a step out hole. Or a hole which is not as perpendicular to the mineralisation as it could be. No one would ever admit to doing this.
