This is mapping polygons from WAMEX A78927 Woolshed Project, and drill collars from same.
Blue is BIF from the Woolshed mapping. Ultramafic schists were also mapped (purple) and these are also evident in airphotos.
Displayed is SRN's geochemistry, overlying the 1:100K GSWA interpretation polygons, with the lithology descriptions.
SRN's geochemistry lies within 'serpentinised metaperidotite' according to the GSWA. WAMEX A78927 shows petrology describing these rocks within the BIF sequence as interflow high-magnesian basalts (calcic pyroxenes). They reported nickel to 1200ppm, which if it's pyroxenites, would likely be sulphidic. Copper assays weren't evident, but reportedly were 1000ppm or so.
SRN's geochemistry is evidently sitting within ultramafic schists. Not many VMS's known from ultramafic schists. The copper content of most pyroxenites, at 50-80ppm, could explain their geochemistry neatly, if upgraded within laterite by Fe.
This is demonstrated by the above, as all soil anomalies lie at the edge of ferricrete and proximal to banded iron, so there's a lot of Fe, Mn in these soils to suck up the base metals. The soil anomalies die off under colluvium and transported soils to the north. So they are entirely regolith controlled, sourced from underlying copper-rich high magnesian basalts and peridotites, which may contain some cloud sulphides (Ni-Cu) if you're lucky.
