From my reading Campoona has been drilled extensively but mainly where they are planning the mine at Campoona shaft. This prospect is 100+m deep of high quality graphite so they have done a lot of work defining this specific area. The strike though according to both the previous announcements and interview with the MD is open for a significant distance (MD suggested approx 12km of strike). Wilclo South there has been less drilling but again the indications are the strike length is similar but it’s larger flake graphite. There is also reference to a Lacroma where they did a small amount of drilling and showed similar graphite to Campoona but didn’t do any more drilling. There is also reference to an area Esso had drilled that had really high purity graphite that they couldn’t access at the time due to a Canola crop and didn’t follow up. Also a number of other electromagnetic and surface based prospects they have identified but not tested, mainly east of Campoona.

I suspect they thought that Campoona provided enough resource to get the project underway that they could build on once they’d established the initial operation.
