The liquid nature of chloride to carbonate conversion likely contributes to the lower cost. These savings are what might be calculated for an effectively lower spodumene price?
Hard rock spodumene requires energy-intensive processes, including cracking to beta spodumene (more suitable for chemical processing) and rising energy costs may widen the gap between conversion methods.
