An ore sorter is a mining machine moreso than a part of the process plant (arguable).
So it is easy to either bulk or selective narrow mine assuming Geo tech is controllable.
Mining 2m wide and high tunnels and extraction Vs 1m or half m extraction costs about $10/tonne direct Vs selective mining say $40/t. Ore sort costs $2/t. Now if you can’t see what a very different mine design and cost basis that an orecsorter provides sitting underground in a now multi level chequerboard R&P backfill layout would be available then I guess your comments sideligning sorters is valid
