That reject is called tails. If you get 90% recovery of gold at 1g/t head grade that is 999,999.1 grams of material to the tails dam plus water plus some chemicals.
But, if UG ore is grading 5g/t and this is only 50% or less of the mill feed that would all be acceptable.
The real question for me is the cost of delivering this ore to the Siana ROM; mining of ore and waste at Mapawa, transport of ore to Siana (including rehandling it twice - once to put it in the road truck at Mapawa and again from where it is unloaded from road truck to get it onto the ROM at Siana) and all of the inherent admin costs, fees and taxes that would be applicable. I cannot see how 1g/t supports this unless the strip ratio is at 1 or less which I am fairly sure it is not.
Hopefully the company has some cunning plan but if this pit was just 1km away I would still see it as marginal and that would be with the mining trucks delivering the ore from the pit to the ROM.
