Any legal case can have impact on the financial position of the company through the following:
a) Social media damage and consequently reputation
b) lengthy and expensive defence case for legal proceedings
c) agreed payout or negotiated settlement
Since this affects an investment decision by shareholders there is a need for the company to address this at some point via announcement.
