If anyone is interested you can read the below posts which have my cited referenced responses back to chinasyndrome regarding his/her previous concerns. This was explaining what a strip ratio was, how to calculate basket pricing, also explain the PH and environmental concerns.
As per the announcements basic ion desorption was occuring at PH between 3-5.
For context apple juice PH is a PH of 3-4. So if your concern around "acidic" tailings you're talking the equivalent of tipping apple juice into the dirt.
