I seem to remember reading a recent announcement that they had greatly improved recovery by lowering the Ph to around 3 (fairly Acidic) leaching with Salt and HCl (Hydrochloric Acid) and extending leach times to 14 hrs ???, (your own post 25/5)

China IS shutting down its ionic REE mines due to the environmental problem, there has been plenty published

The base case economics of any Project should be considered in the conceptual Stage ie before any major expenditure is made.

See my comment about the improved recoveries, even salt by itself degrades agricultural capacity ~ it will have to be neutralized/contained unless they plan on sterilizing the surrounding farm lands and potentially polluting Lake Tanganyika .

If you have a look at the Satellite imagery you will see that the project area lies on the Lake's flood plain, and looking at the distribution of REE's you will also see that the richest assays come from the old flood channels (makes sense as that is where you expect the clay's to be), I would therefore expect that the water table is at or just under the land surface, if so even in a 20m deep hole there will be a significant problem with how to handle that water.

Yes these are early days but I am raising questions which should have already been considered as they are potentially show stoppers. Too many companies waste shareholders money by chasing projects that look good on paper but ignore the fundamental flaws.

Within 3 years there are slated to be at least 4-5 Major mines in production (GGG, PM8, ARU, HAS and ALK + LYC ) capable of producing around 100Kt pa of NdPr, It is important to note that their by product of HREE is going to swamp that market, drastically reducing revenues from the other REE's. Will IXR be able to survive on its CREE production ( 310ppm @ ? recovery) alone ?
