No trouble with my theory at all. Simple. Those initial holes were targeting the monster mapped peg immediately to the East, probably also had a lot to do with the surface reconnaissance, so see location of the first hole 23:
And I'm loving they continued to drill that direction for a while, like the AZS vertical holes, they prove up some depth (still wide open baby) and are pathfinders for the follow ups.
