As an IT professional, this will give you a better technical view of Buddy.com's origins (it is different today) - from the prospective of an app developer. It's roots are still in providing developer api's but focused on rest api's and producing a dashboard to view that data intelligently through IoT.
So, lets give an example of a company who has an IoT product that provides intelligent dashboard apps either through a web based or app platform, and from that example work out where I believe Buddy would fit in, in their product and services.
Lets use the example - #Tagboard http://www.brw.com.au/p/entrepreneurs/aussies_tagboard_seattle_sell_social_mdgMlUtgZat7U7AezhImtN
We know Buddy and Dave provided a lot of the backend and maybe even the app development services in the start up.
Today, unconfirmed.
Simplifying it, if #Tagboard use Buddy's services (hypothetically) Buddy would provide the app developers the rest api's, secure storage of data collected, and filtering in their coding (without them having to code it all themselves) to enable an intelligent dashboard to display the data they wanted in a graphical UI.
and that's Buddy.
device data delivered
Of course, for bigger companies, Buddy provides bigger, more intelligent solutions.
