One reason that the plant is located in Malaysia is that Lynas' customers are mainly Japanese with operations in China. Geographical proximity is desirable.
Once Kalgoorie is debugged and running they should move the entire secondary processing plant to the US to help reduce costs. Howevr, this means that there has to be an entire supply chain in North America from ore to finished product.
