Do not think they will change their minds! Malaysia is the best democracy you have in Asia! All the others are bad to terrible. We would have issues here if the Chinese want us to bend on our rights to decide what the hell we do with our own country. So, if they do not feel comfortable with what Australian miners do in their country, we just have to accept.
It's a great outcome to buy time for Kalgoorlie to come online. Australia has a lot more land and we should deal with the waste right here instead of bullying poorer countries with overpopulation to cope with extra stress. Lynas will do well regardless.
