You know what I mean about rich countries bullying poor ones. Malaysia has been subjected to garbage dumping by Australian waste companies. They view Australia as a bad guy who does not respect and care about the environment of poor countries. So, everything is suspicious to them when it comes to dealing with any company in Australia. Australians do have a bad image in South East Asia. The recent case of an Australian tourist spitting on the face of an Imam in an Indonesian mosque was so terrible. Yet, he was only asked to apologise and deported. He should have been sent to court and sentenced to 50 canes (like what Singapore would do).
I worked with Australian expats in South East Area many years ago and I can tell that their ego is as almost big as their stupidity at times. The sort of dumbest academic students in Australian schools who got into sales and marketing and suddenly thought they were leaders by divine right and their white skin. I told them to shut up and listen to the better-educated and qualified locals who were trained in Australia, the US and other Western countries. And they were shocked
This sort of ego is still an issue today and the optics is not good from the view of the local people over there.
