I will admit I defend MAL too much on this board and this does not represent my views. When I watch Everybody saying it is an evil plot by China and MAL to destroy Lynas i just feel the need to speak up, Like any relation that has problems there are two sides. To only think about one guarantees it will get worse.

An example of this is the American nuclear power industry. Every body 70 years ago wanted it. Then there were problems and many wanted it gone instantly. Now slowly some of those people see it has a place and people are talking about it again. Plant designs will change for better and be safer but there is still a risk. I think the risk is acceptable but only time will tell.

For many years MAL had the welcome flag out for industry and still does. NC wanted a lower cost of operations. MAL made many offers because they thought Lynas would be great, Primarily taxes and infrastructure development. Lynas promised to open plant quickly and provide locale employment. Governments changed during an election and some people had a chance to hurt Lynas that they did not like. Is their any democracy that this does not happen in?

Luckily this board does not seem to have lots of influence on either party. If Either Lynas or MAL took attitude of this board then the only outcome would be a very expensive divorce. Lynas was given a six month extension seems like enough to me. If it is not then they have time to work it out without a gun to their head and find something better. Lynas has been saying since late 2019 they would shut down C&L at Lamp I do not know what has changed that they now need it forever. I wish the company would explain what changed.

if company said why they want to change it might start talks on making it. Maybe they have told the MAL Gov already but none of us know.

malaysian political corruption is well known. Most Malaysians thinks their politicians are corrupt. China using bribes on Malaysian has happened often. If the Chinese are trying to influence Australian politicians and had historically bribed the Pm of Malaysia. Why do you not think this might be more widespread
