I have posted in the past about how Chinese hackers and government agencies have run an anti-Lynas/anti- Non-China RE campaign for years. Tan Boon Teet and the SMSL crowd were almost certainly paid something by the Chinese to obstruct the construction of Gebeng for as long as possible.
As we are finding that even the president of the US and his family have been taking bribes from China why should it surprise us that the same doesn't happen all over the world. China has a near monopoly on RE's and magnets and will use it as a cudgel to subvert the ROW.
Notice how the lithium supply chain outside of China has been developing. Machine tool orders in North America are skyrocketing as companies are beginning to take the threat seriously and moving onshore.
There are no rules when dealing with China. It's that simple. Might equals right.
