I think your back of the envelope financial analysis is flawed leading to an incorrect financial conclusion.
Analysis should be based on Discounted Cash Flow and Internal Rate of Return modelling which would include the tax effect and the time value of money.
Capex comes out of after tax funds and Opex is pretax.
I acknowledge the time and effort you put into your posts.
