Well, you assume thats what happened. Maybe he intended to invest before he was appointed, but didn't want to pull the trigger because he was having 'insider' discussions with the board as part of the hiring process? Could the board have 'encouraged' him to show conviction in the Co by buying shares as CEO asap? Maybe he got in, liked what he saw, wanted to invest, asked and was given permission?
Maybe the buying decision and the release of reader study results are completely unrelated? Maybe his departure had nothing to do with the share purchase?
So many maybe's, so many theories, so few facts. Whatever the situation, the optics on the board and the business are terrible.
