There are many reasons for selling (eg. Tax, Divorce, Diversification, Property Purchase etc) of which one of them could be no longer believing in the long term prospects of the company. But when one buys shares there is only one and one reason. They believe in the long term prospects and think the shares are good value.
So yes just because MD/Founder/management sells shares does not automatically signal company is going down the drain just ask all those share holders who held on to NCK shares when Mr Scali first sold huge parcel in 2009ish (around $1)
