Am I surprised by the news? Yes, and no. The AGM was clearly 'off' this year. SW barely took part, looked unhappy, and Miles picked up the baton and did most of the talking. I think the failure of the incentive resolutions (not really a failure, more insufficient enthusiasm from shareholders) injected a sour note into proceedings, but I'd like to think that SW is big enough not to let that put him off his stride. Anyway, 'tis done; according to Miles, finding the right talent in such a concentrated industry isn't easy, so let's see who steps up to the plate next.
Personally, I'm sorry to see SW leave and wish him well for his future; he did bring some novel ideas to Lucapa along with his drive and infectious positive attitude, he built the company we see today.
Now it's down to Miles and Ross to find a worthy successor - the company looks in good shape, so there is a chance for a new leader to pick up the reins and make a name for himself.
