Hi Cpago55 - that is what happens before opening and after 4pm until settlement of the auction period. The final price is the net sum at the given price so offers under the settlement price and bids over happen every day on most stocks. They open alphabetically in the morning staring about 10am so the depth looks like that before settlement. Later in the alphabet the open happens nearer 10:10am and at A it happens right on 10am or a couple of seconds before at times. I hope that clears up your confusion.
