MBC's landfill, recycling and engineering services general manager Simon Pratt said the company had definite plans to increase the mine's output within a year or two.

"The mine is mildly active, but that is going to change," he said.

"Currently, the mine employs 25 local employees ... it will provide between 100 and 300 full-time jobs when operational and up to three times that during construction works."
