Pilbara Minerals warns of staffing pressures in tight labour market
Pilbara Minerals suffered a drop in production of spodumene, the mineral that produces lithium, in part linked to staffing pressures in a tightening labour market, the company said on Thursday.March quarter spodumene concentrate fell to 81,431 dry metric tonnes from 83,476 dry metric tonnes in the preceding quarter.
“Production volumes impacted by resourcing shortfalls in staff and contractors as a function of COVID-19 impacts and the tight labour market,” the company said.
The company pointed to a “strong sales price dynamic during the March quarter, with battery grade chemical pricing suggesting another significant step-up in the offtake concentrate sales price during the June quarter”.
