The reason it's the lowest cost lithium mine in the world is because it's the highest grade.
As far as I know some of the ore goes 4-5% Li also why they can make chemical grade.
I could be getting those grades mixed up with Lynas' Mt Weld, whose grade is also exceptional and I think world leading though with REE's the composition of the REE is important.

Thinking back the reason those two mines are so dominant is because they could exist and/or get stated when their products were out of fashion . they had to be very high grade to be profitable at crappy commodity prices. (Some of us have laboured through all of that and backed them). We hope & believe we can hang in if the going gets tough in future. It's part of the reason why miners, like farmers, are hardened (but don't tell Mc Gowan apparently it's all down to his efforts least that's what he's telling the Chinese).
