The Chinese have built enough anode production to last until 2027. And they haven't stopped
Global anode demand is expected to reach 2.32 million tonnes in 2024
Effective capacity in 2023 expected to reach 4.5 million tonnes (mostly synthetic) - double what is required by 2024
Most anode demand ex-china will still be supplied by China in 2030. Especially synthetic. Looks to me this is where the Chinese are concentrating on. They know most western mines are going vertically integrated on natural and their own mines can't supply the demand if they build the natural AAM plants. Also most companies will struggle to build synthetic AAM plants in the west because of ESG concerns. No such concerns in China.
