physical vs chemical
Micronising/spheronisation produces PSG of a desired fraction - EGR 60% yield (40% byproduct fines). No material loss, just reduction of flake size. The challenge is to produce PSG with as little fines waste/byproduct as possible. Of course, the proposed Recarb venture would mean there is effectively zero graphitic waste. This product pair (PSG + fines) would still be around 96% TGC (may find impurity divergence, coarse vs fines).
Purification is a chemical process in which 96% TGC material is refined to +99.9% (removal of 4% impurities by acid/base washes, roasting etc.).
Improved efficiency more pronounced where a centralised Tanz mechanical shaping hub feeds multiple EU/NA purification facilities. The impure fines produced in Tanz will also still need to be shipped to a purification facility.
