WHy would they need a "new crusher" (circuit ) ?
My understanding is Most plants especially for open cut operations are built with considerable redundancy for the crusher circuit , ie only operate the crusher circuit for around 16 hours a day (while the mill operates 24/7 ) and have a fine ore bin down stream of the tertiary crusher that stores the crushed ore for a day or more so that gives even more redundancy
The bottle neck tends to be the SAG or Ball mill in a plant as harder to do major overhauls on and more costly (replacing a ring gear or gear box or even liners and media ) and harder to replicate in a battery arrangement .
In saying that maybe a different cyclone arrangement for the mill is appropriate to what you consider a possible issue ie reduce slurry density if less clay , or have a gravity circuit with IPJs .
Maybe your supposition of new ore feed having a higher throughput would be best answered by getting a verification from the MD ?
