I think they were up against walls on all fronts.
audiologists didn’t want to support a low margin device.
big box retailers didn’t want to offer in store point of sale or after sales support.
customers didn’t want oversized black plugs in their ears.
in hindsight there doesn’t appear to have been appropriate research and strategy, everything looks like a reactionary pivot, too late. Chasing fda was a mistake, especially without features that would allow an audiologist to adjust the devices and give be them a piece of the pie.
I do hope the strategic review is about getting the right expertise in to get the approach right, and not simply find an exit for far joy…
