Lindsay Fox's transport company (Linfox, unlisted and therefore privately held by that family) and Lindsay Australia (listed, code LAU) are not related.
While I wouldn't trust the three of them and have no doubt that Albanese and Daniel Andrews discussed business with Labor and union-aligned Lindsay Fox during that infamous, secret BBQ at Pt King on the Mornington Peninsula recently - how could these two politicians be there for several hours and just exchange pleasantries - you may be a little confused re the two transport companies.
You are correct that LAU probably picked up some Scott's assets for minimal prices, albeit not 'free', as when liquidators arrive, generally they don't care to obtain the best price for assets. They want to undertake the liquidation as soon as possible and move on to the next one.
