With the MD going - competitors may see an opportunity to make a takeover offer, possibly believing it is a hassle for the directors to find somebody else, and since it provides for less management resistance about status, more willingness to accept changes etc.
Priceline or Expedia? Not the reason to buy (just a flipside to losing a good MD), but you never know. WTF performs much better than Expedia does from memory. Not sure about Priceline, who's performance is generally excellent. (haven't checked either of these for a few years so may be out of touch nowadays).
