Synlait is not like Fonterra. Farmers are not required to own shares in the company. All wise farmers will have quit their positions ages ago. So its not a fact at all.
What is a fact is that Synlait owes their suppliers (eg farmers) a pot load of money. Who ever takes over the remnants of Synlait will need to look after farmers to ensure they remain as suppliers. No point owning a tonne of stainless steel if there is no milk to keep it fuunctional. (Though I don't think Fonterra, westland or the northern proessors have capacity to take all of Synlaits farmers.)
