Whether they could have prevented it or not is frankly irrelevant. The reality is they can't deliver the cars.
Take a look at the consumer facing stocks, Target, Walmart, amazon. All getting smashed. Costs are going up, it's hard to provide the product. This like it or not has an impact on profitability and margins.
There is no guarantees these supply chain issue will be resolved in the short or medium term. APE deserved to be sold off, and will likely get slammed today with every other consumer facing stock.
