thing is.... people will still want to use cards as a way of paying. so businesses will still provide that option, or are we all going back to cash? I don't think so. If businesses provide that payment option then there is a business in providing those businesses with a mechanism to provide that payment option. in other words, the need for what smartpay provides will still exist, people will still have to pay for it as smartpay etc are not benevolent organisations. the mechanism by which they pay for it might have to change but they'll still have to pay.
the market hates uncertainty. of course. but it is certain people will still want to pay by card and therefore smartpay still has a business.
