Land Cruiser tray backs can carry a decent load nearly 4 ton GVM (so guessing around 2 tonne load ) when Santos specified

The taller cab makes the Hino a bit of a chore when getting into and out of all the time as a utility vehicle , plus a higher deck height is a pain if working for rural fire services as a support vehicle. My mate who works full time for the fire dept , says even the deck height in the latest pickups is too high for getting ancillaries out of especially for women .
I use to have a similar sized Isuzu , having the seat right over the front axle makes for a bumpy ride to .
Its hard to beat the land cruisers , I do not know if they are still sufficient safety wise though for mines , NZ had a safety upgrade for the 70 series last year , do not know if it was also done in OZ
Of interest that Hino you referred to has discs on both front and rear axles which has to be a plus .
