I think that after you have purchased the "minimum marketable parcel" of shares in a security ($500 on the ASX), you can then buy or sell any further quantity you like. I would suspect that very low volumes like this are generally automated trades (robots) done to manipulate the SP and trigger buy or sell action. MUFG has a substantial stake in DCG, and they are very much in the business of lending to the short sellers.
