Trumpet said that he did say that the cure was worse than the disease - so interpreting that as putting the economy before health is a bit of an interpretive stretch. I have to say that while I think Trump is a less than believable person , in this case, he has a point.

If we say there are 100,000 reported cases then we have to assume that there are 10 or 20 times that amount. Most people who get it either don't have any symptoms or have enough to pass it off as a mild cold. These cases are not reported. That also means the the death rate is 10 or 20 times times less. COVID-19 is NOT the plague.

Containment measures are sort of wasted at the moment as the disease is out there anyway so maybe governments should accept that and concentrate on more extensive and maybe mandatory testing and giving the best medical care to those who are badly affected instead. Might also reduce the irrational panic we are witnessing.

And, no, I am not downplaying the disease - but I am suggesting that the panic is well overdone and the official responses around the world are a bit too draconian.
