Agree with BobF, the 10mm x 10mm 1024 pixel half-structure chip is one complete device - like the core vehicle chassis in a car manufacturing plant.

You can manufacture a range of cars, vans and utes using that one core chassis, but if you want to design, manufacture, test & perfect a new or different-shaped chassis, that would likely take a year or two.

That said, I'm sure they could leverage the existing 10mm x10mm AKP chip in a variety of over-the-ear, and potentially even earbud style devices (Many of the existing earbud style devices have a larger component, incl batteries & mics just outside the ear)
