One thing I have learned about Aaryn over the years is that he is very conservative and has a habit of under-promising and over-delivering, the recent (unexpected) update was a testament to that. There are a few reasons why CXZ holds some of the bargaining chips relative to GM. Firstly, CXZ is (was?) the cheapest cost provider in the market by a long way. Even with the pricing increase, it is likely that CXZ is still the market (pricing) leader. Secondly, CXZ has worked intimately with GM now for over 3+ years delivering tailored and customised requests at speed. It is unlikely that other providers would be able to match the tailored service and knowledge that CXZ has built over many years about the GM CTP. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out over the next year or two. The industry is facing some challenges (some cyclical and some structural) but there are also considerable opportunities for CXZ to take advantage of and the team is proving itself to be very capable.
