." But I proceed differently, you could say I speculate, as I am mostly in and and of
blue chips, and at times it can be more profitable. Take for example my bread and butter, MQG, it went up a measly $10 over the year, but the chart, almost like the waves of the Pacific on a nice sandy beach, moves in big regular, almost predictable ondulations that if you go with the flow you end with a lot more than the 6% (about) a long term holder would get. A pity CSL isn't as wavy at the moment."
Good luck with the investing-by-trying-to-jag-the-right-side-of-market-randomness methodology; I've yet to meet anyone with a track record of getting it right on a sustained basis. You might be the first.
"Now, the veracity of the post. Shares are bought by computers but still by people too. By Mums and Dads, and they trust your CBA, CSL, TLS ... That the human factor you never account for, but which makes the shares of such companies more valuable than their mere numbers and charts would suggest."
So does that ...er... human factor mean that any valuation level constitutes a buy opportunity? Or is there at least some kind of valuation limit which becomes excessive, notwithstanding the "human factors"TM?
"Finally as a trader, I do not like posters talking down companies when I am a holder (once I sold that's okay, they can waste their whole sundays enlightening the good people on Hot Copper)."
I'm sure @noomxx is a smart guy/girl and he/she may even have somewhat of a following among other investors, but I think you have an excessively vivid imagination if you think that his/her opinions (or those of any members of this august investor forum, for that matter) have any impact whatsoever on the market value of a 134 billion dollar, global behemoth enterprise.
